The Merlin V12 is one of the most prolific engines in history.

It was produced in large numbers during WWII and played a huge role in the Allies' air superiority.

While most P-51 Mustang air racers are powered by Merlin engines, Precious Metal sports a much bigger Griffon V12. Unfortunately it caught fire this week on the way to the Reno Air Races. Details inside.
