Project 007 Is a Gen-III 5.3L LS engine that started its life as the 1K for $8K engine, where we attempted to make 1,000 horsepower for $8,000. While we didn’t quite hit the budget goal, we exceeded the power goal. Now, Project 007 — so named because of the serial number of the BoostLine short-block — has become our turbocharged test bed, trying out different parts and pieces in quest for more power in the four-digit horsepower range.

1,000 horsepower isn't as lofty of a goal as it once was. The question is, can we do it reliably, for just $8,000?
