Back in December of 2014, AEM Performance Electronics released a version of their data analysis software that now includes video encoding.
The new video encoding feature allows the user to import third-party video, combine it with logged data via user customizable gauges, and then export the final video. Creating a video with a performance data overlay is a great tool because it allows the driver to visualize the data more than ever by connecting it with what the driver experienced out on the track.
An update to the software includes a performance enhancement that uses memory-mapped file views to speed up file access by 20x (which is ideal for Infinity ECU users with large data files), the addition of *.ellog and *.log file extension (which makes files easier to find), and drag and drop of itlog files that makes them easier to organize. A font scaling option was also added for the tachometer gauge and the background of the tachometer gauge now updates if the channel is changed.
The customizability of the data overlay is great. The user has a choice of adding and or customizing gauges and readouts such as round gauges, horizontal and vertical bar graphs, text displays, images, BitMask displays, radar graphs, and track maps. AEMdata analysis software is free software and can be used with the company’s standalone programmable engine management systems and data loggers, including the Infinity ECU, Series 2 EMS, AQ-1 Data Logger and Wideband Failsafe Gauge.
If you have any of the compatible systems, what are you waiting for? Get out on the track and use this great feature to help further hone your driving skills!
