SEMA 2014: Edelbrock Expands Line of Top-end Power Kits

Edelbrock continues to expand its popular Total Power Top End packages, introducing 16 new applications at the SEMA Show.

“We have more big-block and more hydraulic roller packages now,” says Edelbrock’s Eric Blakely. “We’re also getting up into the 600 to 700 horsepower range.”

The top-end concept is quite simple: Edelbrock tests a variety of bolt-on components for a specific engine family and groups the best combinations to meet four different power levels. The kits include cylinder heads, camshaft, intake manifold, timing set and all the necessary hardware and gaskets for a quick and easy installation.

“Essentially, it’s a formula we’ve used for years,” adds Blakely.

The majority of kits are focused on Chevy, Ford and Mopar engines, however, Edelbrock offers power packages for AMC, Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.

“And we have more kits planned for Olds and Pontiac,” promises Blakely.

For the most popular engines, Edelbrock offers four steps of performance levels with the kits. The E-Street line is for basic street performance with the Performer line providing a little more power but with civil manners. The Performer RPM line increases the power range with more aggressive cams and Performer RPM or RPM Air-Gap intakes. Finally, there’s the Victor line of top-end kits that are geared toward heavy street/strip use. These kits can include CNC-ported heads, Victor intakes and Rollin Thunder cams. Edelbrock also makes suggestions for carburetor size and provides numerous dyno charts to compare the different packages. And Edelbrock will identify componets that are street legal or for racing only.

“It’s all about the formula,” sums up Blakely. “The customer can see the parts needed to get to that power level and chip away as their budget allows. Or they can get it all in one box.”
