Mopar fans with classic LA-series small-blocks – those trusty 318s, 340s, and 360s built from 1964 to 1992 – just got a fresh reason to get excited about making more power. Airflow Research (AFR) recently rolled out new 175cc Enforcer cylinder heads, specifically designed to wake up these old-school V8s with modern airflow and improved cooling.
AFR built these small-block Mopar cylinder heads for everything from casual street cruisers to serious track machines. They feature carefully designed 175cc intake and exhaust runners with an as-cast finish. AFR says this design flows great right out of the box, potentially saving builders from needing immediate port work for many applications.
A smart engineering update also included new water jacket designs within the heads. These help keep things cooler in critical high-stress spots around the combustion chambers, which means better engine durability and reliability, especially when the engine is working hard.AFR isn’t shy about the performance numbers, either. The company reports its 175cc Enforcer Mopar LA head flows a healthy 262 cfm on the intake side and 203 cfm on the exhaust side, both measured at 0.600 inches of valve lift on a SuperFlow 600 flowbench. This shows a significant improvement in airflow potential compared to the original factory iron castings.
Builders can grab these new AFR heads as bare castings, which is perfect for those planning a full custom valvetrain setup. Alternatively, AFR offers them fully assembled with their own selection of premium valvetrain components, providing a more bolt-on solution for enthusiasts. This flexibility makes the heads appealing for a wide range of Mopar LA engine projects and budgets.
So, if you’re looking to get more punch from an LA-series Mopar small-block, whether it’s for a fun street machine or a more serious performance build, these new AFR 175cc small-block Mopar cylinder heads look like a solid option. They bring modern airflow design and better cooling to a classic and much-loved Mopar V8 family, making it easier for enthusiasts to build reliable power.
