The black trim trend is spilling over from street engines to the race track, as evidenced by the healthy dose of black paint and coatings on various powerplants at the PRI show.
In our annual review of the hottest engines (check out past stories here, here and here!) found on the show floor, a growing number are sporting more than just black valve covers. Many components like superchargers, scoops, intakes, plumbing and oil pans are now coated black.
Just about every interest is covered in this gallery, ranging from screaming turbo-4s up to 900ci mountain motors. Even got a couple really cool motorcycle engines, and luckily there were some great vintage engines from the Indy speedway as well as the drag strip. Click on any engine to view a full-size image.
Every time EngineLabs runs a gallery, there are always comments requesting more information. We wish we could accommodate but the owners or builders are rarely around when our camera snaps the photo, especially if the engines are found in cars. The main goal is to offer ideas for detailing, induction and just generally let you know what’s out there. Enjoy!
