SCAT Crankshafts: Built For The Long-Haul In Your LS/LT Engine

Everyone who rebuilds an engine is hoping to get the most power available with fresh parts. To do that, the parts you use are just as important as a proper assembly. When it comes to choosing the right parts for your build, the crankshaft is one of the first parts considered.

There are many options when upgrading your LS- or LT-based engine’s crankshaft, but for many, there is only one choice, SCAT. For over 50 years, SCAT has been manufacturing crankshafts in their 42,000-square-foot facilities in Redondo Beach, California. It has two complete lines capable of transforming raw forgings or billets into finished crankshafts. The SCAT manufacturing center has over 20 CNC machines to precisely whittle away metal to the smallest detail.

SCAT offers both street and competition crankshafts for LS- and LT-based engines. Crankshafts are available with 6- or 8-bolt applications and either 24-tooth or 58-tooth reluctor wheels. Customers can also choose between SCAT’s Street or Competition line of crankshafts. Street cranks are good to 750 horsepower while competition variants can handle up to 1,000 horsepower.

For over 50 years, SCAT has been manufacturing crankshafts in their 42,000-square-foot facilities in Redondo Beach, California.

These SCAT crankshafts are made from 4340 forgings and are shot-peened, heat-treated, precision-ground, and ion nitrided for superior strength. They come rough-balanced and with a reluctor wheel installed. The keyway is already cut for the damper (key not included).

SCAT's facilities can create crankshafts from raw forgings or billet, to complete, ready-to-install crankshafts.

SCAT also has crankshafts manufactured with counter-weights for added strength and ease of balancing. SCAT crankshafts feature lightened throws with straight shot and chamfered oil holes. There are gun-drilled main journals and lightening holes in the rod journals. Crankshafts are available in standard weight or Pro-Series, lightweight versions for utmost performance. SCAT also offers complete rotating assemblies to ensure your bottom end stays in sync over the long haul.
