Manley Billet Steel Timing Sets Expand To Chrysler And GM-LS Apps

Manley Performance has a rich manufacturing history dating back to 1929. Then, you could purchase a Manley 25-ton hydraulic press for $115.00 or a 2-1/2 ton hydraulic jack for $48.00. Both products were invented by Robert E. Manley.

In 1966, Manley Speed Equipment, Inc. was founded by Hank Manley. His initial line of products included stainless valves, forged pistons, camshafts, lifters, vanadium valve springs, pushrods, and noted here, their performance timing chain kits.

Two more recent additions to the Manley high-horsepower billet steel timing chain applications include the 5.7L and 6.1L Hemi engines and GM LS-series engines.

Today’s Manley Performance timing chain sets include its very popular products machined from billet steel, the optimum choice for cam timing and valvetrain accuracy in performance and racing applications.

Manley Performance not only offers its billet steel roller timing sets for popular applications such as the familiar small-block and big-block Chevrolet, the company has expanded its applications to include General Motors LS-series engines, and Chrysler/Dodge 5.7L and 6.1L Hemi engines.

CNC machining by Manley from steel alloy to provide excellent durability. The timing chains included with these sets are produced with durable .250-inch diameter rollers. The various camshaft sprockets are machined for and include a brass wear shim or a captive Torrington thrust bearings, depending on the manufacturer’s design.

A special single-roller package is available for LS1, LS2, and LS3 engines and is designed to fit within the OEM timing cover without modification. There are nine keyways on the LS and Hemi sprockets (-8° to +8°), with four on the small-block and big-block Chevrolet (-4° to +4°).

Within the engineered cam timing features, the Chrysler/Dodge Hemi 5.7L/6.1L are an offset cam bushings for 0°, or +/- 2°, 4°, 6° of timing when using the factory ECM computers. An oil pump drive sprocket is included, as required by varied models, as well.

In addition to these premium billet timing sets, Manley also offers more economical versions with cast cam sprockets, a Race Roller line of timing kits with Torrington bearings, and a machined steel crankshaft sprocket, plus a Street Master product line with a standard roller chain.

As Manley Performance, now a Race Winning Brands company, enters its 56th year of manufacturing, its billet timing chain sets are just a part of its current mission statement. Tripp Manley has offered its customers the promise that its efforts to manufacture the finest quality internal engine components at competitive prices and offer unparalleled customer service as the top mission.
