LS Power Gains Made Easy With COMP Cams HV Line Of Camshafts

Not everyone needs a camshaft that has more chop than a martial arts movie, with crazy amounts of lobe separation and duration. If you’re looking for an LS camshaft that will give your full-size vehicle or weekend cruiser better throttle response, drivability, and more torque, without a radical profile, the COMP Cams HV line of camshafts is for you.

There are plenty of enthusiasts out there that have an LS-powered vehicle that wants some additional performance but don’t want to sacrifice how their vehicle drives. The HF camshaft is designed to service these individuals, thanks to the performance improvements it brings to the table. These camshafts have the ability to make good power with minimal ECU tuning…and that’s huge for many people.

Trent Goodwin from COMP Cams explains how the HV line of camshafts increases an engine’s horsepower levels.

“The lobe profiles and specs developed around the HV series really cater to engine responsiveness and torque production. The wider LSA aids in achieving the full performance potential of the cam with minimal tuning within the ECU. The HV Stage 1 NSR (No Springs Required) picked up 69 horsepower and 29 ft-lbs. peak to peak, and picked up 27 ft-lbs. at 3,000 rpm compared to a Gen IV 5.3L, while the HV Stage 2 gained 94 horsepower and 31 ft-lbs. peak to peak.”

The HV camshafts are available in several different flavors according to Goodwin.

“We have three cams available: Stage 1 NSR, Stage 1, and Stage 2. The 54-271-11 Stage 1 NSR and 54-273-11 Stage 1 have nearly identical lobe separations and durations, but the 54-273-11 has a higher lift designed to work with our 26906-16 valve springs.”

You can see the specs for each of the HV camshafts right here on the COMP Cams website.
