When you plan on pushing an engine hard, the components you select become very important. High-horsepower engines need high-quality connecting rods so they can perform as designed and be reliable. Callies created its Ultra series of connecting rods with all the required features to be a top-tier high-performance connecting rod.
If you’re running a supercharged or turbocharged engine, the Ultra Enforcer I-beam connecting rod is a great fit. These connecting rods have fortified tower flanges that add plenty of strength to deal with a boosted engine’s abuse. Callies uses a special 4330 TimkenSteel as the material for the Ultra Enforcer I-beam connecting rods. The Ultra Enforcer I-beam connecting rods have pressure angle arches that disperse wrist pin induced strain, a large web to flange transition radius, extended footprint at joint mating faces for superior housing stability, along with other great features.
The Ultra H-beam connecting rods are designed to work with high RPM engines and other big horsepower applications. To provide leverage and reduce bore ovality at the top of the exhaust stroke, Callies tapered the big end outer profile of the Ultra H-beam rods. The big end gussets of the rods have been extended to tie the bolt spotface and centerline together, this proves equal distribution of the clamping force. Callies also designed the Ultra H-beam rod bolt threads to be fully engaged in the rod, used Ampco 45 material for the pin bushings, and implemented a twin rib cap design for the big end housing bore.
