Find Out More About School of Automotive Machinists With This FAQ

While the performance industry continues to grow it is still a close knit community, and having the right connections, background, and reputation, as well as education can make all the difference if you’re looking for a job with any shop. The School of Automotive Machinists, or SAM prepares their students to work in the top areas of the performance and motorsports industries, and has students employed throughout every aspect of the industry as proof.

If you’re considering enrolling in the school there is a helpful FAQ on the SAM web site that can answer many of your questions about the school and what to expect. we took a look at a few of the answers from that FAQ.

Tools:

With the exception of a quality dial caliper, which is used throughout the school’s training programs, SAM provides all the tools and equipment needed for instruction and training. Unlike some items which you might purchase to get through a more traditional college program, only to find them useless after graduation, a quality dial caliper is something that a machinist uses daily in their career, thus a SAM student will find this tool useful long after graduation.

Job Placement:

While the economy is recovering, finding a career where your skills can be used to their potential can be tough. SAM offers local job placement to students while they attend the school, and assistance in finding a job afterwards.

Housing:

Since SAM is located in Houston, Texas there are obviously a variety of housing options for students. However the school has a nearby apartment complex that they refer students to, and many current SAM students live there while attending the school.

Starting:

SAM has nine starting times each year, meaning you may not have to wait long for that next spring or fall semester to begin your education.

Veterans:

Many of our heroes are coming home from long and harsh military service and looking for a career. SAM is an approved school for veterans training.

We’ve covered just a few of the questions from the FAQ. For more information check out the SAM web site or contact them directly. A career in this field can be both rewarding and challenging, and if you’re interested in building high performance engines SAM is one of the top schools in the country.
