A Look At Torco

A Look At Torco’s SR-1 Super Street Series Oil

Torco SR-1 Super Street Series is a fully synthetic high-performance engine oil that is like splicing pure race car DNA into your daily driver. According to the company, the 100-percent synthetic formula has proven itself capable of increasing horsepower and torque by up to 3-percent when used in modern high-performance engines.

Consider the C7 Corvette ZR1 and its 755-horsepower supercharged LT5 V8. A 3 percent nominal improvement in horsepower translates to an additional 22.6 ponies, which, while not a mind-bending change like adding a party pulley or piping in nitrous, the cost efficiency of a simple oil change in exchange for more than 20 horsepower is too good to be ignored.

Torco’s SR-1 Super Street Series oil uses an anti-wear formula that isn’t dependent on high levels of phosphorus which in turn makes it compliant with the latest API and European specifications.

Torco’s SR-1 Super Street Series was developed explicitly for the high-performance streetcar. It uses an anti-wear formula that isn’t dependent on high levels of phosphorus which in turn makes it compliant with the latest API and European specifications. Torco starts with a superior low-friction base oil with a higher viscosity index than big-box rivals. Better base oils equal a better final product and help promote the stability of the product in the presence of typical engine contaminants like condensation, oxidized fuel components, and metal naphthenates from anti-corrosion and detergent additives.

Like all Torco oils and lubricants, its SR-1 Super Street Series high-performance synthetic engine oil is batch blended, unlike many larger competing brands. The small-batch blending process allows Torco to better control the ingredients and quality of each batch, which leads to better consistency bottle to bottle, year after year. This is because the company holds itself to higher quality standards than the industry benchmark, with higher quality materials chosen for their characteristics instead of cost-efficiency. Part of Torco’s strenuous quality control methodology is redundant chemical testing every single step of the way. Even after the blending process, finished products are once again put through one final round of validity testing before entering the bottling phase.

Torco USA is one of the industry leaders in ultra-high-end specialty lubricants for high-performance and racing applications, and one of the last true specialty oil companies. But you’ll be forgiven if you’ve never heard of them, even if the company has established its reputation in the motorsports world over the course of 70 years–it wasn’t until recently that the company decided to create its Street Series line of oils, an OEM-approved super high-performance family of engine lubricants that take inspiration from Torcos racing products to keep your street car running at peak performance.
