SEMA 2021: BD Diesel Releases Cummins Competition Intake Manifold

The last time we were here in Las Vegas for the SEMA show BD Diesel Performance hit the show floor with nearly twenty new products, so we knew that this year would be great. While we are going to highlight each of them, we wanted to get the news out about what we think is the hottest piece. Introducing the 5.9-liter Cummins competition intake manifold. For all of you Cummins guys out there looking for an affordable side draft intake, here you go.

I talked with Chris Oborne with BD Diesel and he was excited to give me all of the information. “This piece is something we’ve been working on for quite a while, and we’re excited to finally get it out there. Since our intake manifold is unique, it comes with a few different items that are required in order for you to use it,” Chris said. “This includes a new fuel rail, high-pressure fuel lines, and the plumbing hardware to hold all of the incoming boost.”

But what separates this from any other “side draft” style intake plenum? Typically, when you’re doing a side-mount intake, most have to saw off the intake shelf on the cylinder head. This one, however, doesn’t require that at all. They created this manifold to be able to get all of the flow of a side draft and still work with your factory head. This is truly a bolt-on side draft that guarantees performance.

It comes in a cast finish, but as you can see, the options are endless when it comes to painting. This intake should be a hot ticket for all of those competition-focused, Cummins-powered Ram’s out there. For $1,999, you’re getting a ton of parts that can be installed anywhere. Other features of this intake manifold include ports for your Mass Air Flow sensor and two more ports for either boost reference or injectables.
