Total Seal High-Performance Piston Rings has been the industry’s leader in performance piston rings for quite some time. I personally knew they offered parts for our modified diesel truck engines, but this year, the company brought more to the table. So, what does Total Seal have for us? Introducing the all-new HSS Diesel Top Ring. To learn about this hot product, we spoke with the Total Seal Director Of Techincal Sales, Keith Jones. “This new HSS Diesel Top Ring is going to be an absolute game-changer in the industry. These are tool-steel rings, and I don’t want to say they are indestructible because we both know how hard diesels are on things, but they are tough,” Jones said.

Jones continued, “As I said, this is the strongest material you can use to make a piston ring. On this day, at this time, this is the toughest ring on the third planet from the Sun. It’s as tough as it gets.” Jones also told us these are readily available for multiple diesel applications and they are fitted for just about every bore size. If you’re in the middle of an engine build, this is a very important piece to ensure a long-living and healthy engine.

Among the new HSS Top Ring for our trucks, Jones also told us about the company’s gapless ring program. With a gapless ring, this doesn’t allow fuel or contaminates into the oil pan and inevitably dirtying the engine oil. “These gapless rings are going to be a huge deal as well,” Jones said. “With a gapless ring, you’re keeping the blowby, fuel, and other contaminants out of the oil and sustaining all of your created horsepower and boost pressure.”
