SEMA 2018: Scoggin Dickey’s New 1,000-Horsepower LS Crate Engine

It seems that a lot of new crate engines have been popping up lately and most have been for the LT and LS crowd. Chevrolet Performance just released the new LT5 along with the LT4 E-Rod package, and the 350 supercharged COPO mill. With the popularity of the LS/LT engines being at an all-time high, one would think that someone else might bring something to the crate engine battle.

That’s precisely what Scoggin Dickey Parts Center Raceshop did. The company known for its high-power race engines has entered the market with a new candidate that is sure to be a popular choice among those that can’t live without a high-horsepower swap. This turbo 6.0-liter engine has all of the right components to make for an uber reliable street/race engine capable of producing more than 1,000 horsepower with only 12-pounds of boost.

The SDPC turbo 6.0 starts off with a GM Gen IV iron block and GM crank that’s mated with a set of Molnar H-beam rods and utilizes a set of Diamond flat-top forged pistons. ARP head and main studs are used throughout the build to make sure this combination is super reliable. The heads consist of factory LS3 castings that use a set of SDPC dual springs and GM rockers with a CHE trunnion kit. Slap on a GM LS3 intake manifold, FAST 85-pound injectors, Hooker turbo manifolds, and your choice of a Precision 76/75 or an 88/84 turbo and you have a very dependable setup that is capable of making over 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque on gasoline.

According to Warren Ekery of Scoggin Dickey Parts Center, this piece will set you back a few bucks – $16,300 to be exact. When you compare it to other 1,000-horsepower engine combinations, it is quite the bargain. If you can’t live without one, give Scoggin Dickey a call. With some of the best customer service in the industry, they will be sure to get you taken care of.
