SCAT has had a hand in the LS game since day one, when it helped develop the rotating assembly for the original LS engine from Chevrolet in the ’90s. They’re continuing that longstanding commitment to excellence by providing enthusiasts with custom options for Chevy’s LS and LT engines alike. While at SEMA 2018, we stopped by and spoke with Tom Lieb, who has been at every SEMA Show since the very first one, and is the resident expert for all the things that rotate at SCAT.

Tom told us all about LS engine theory, the differences in crank noses, flywheel bolt patterns, reluctor wheels, and more specifically, the new products SCAT has coming out for 2019 that accommodate the varying LS architecture. Tom said, “We have probably the most complete array of cranks and rods for these engines, of anybody.”

Tom went on to say, “We have forged cranks, cast cranks, custom forged cranks, and then billet cranks.” That was what we were there to take a look at. As their name implies, SCAT is known for their custom crankshafts and connecting rods, but the available components they have in stock were on display as well. They have options for every type of enthusiast.
