PRI 2021: Ferrea Racing Components C8 LT2 Valve Train Package

The PRI Show is like walking through a high performance candy store. On the top shelf is the Corvette bling. With the new C8 out, we were on the hunt to find those cherries, and we found them located at the Ferrea Racing Components booth with their new LT2 cylinder head and valve train package on display. 

Ferrea is a leading manufacturer of high quality valve train components in the performance and racing industry and it is no wonder they were first to market on this stuff. Zeke Urrutia, Director of Marketing at Ferrea Racing Components, was happy to explain what we were looking at.

“This is the LT2 cylinder head out of the new C8 Corvette. We have come out with a whole valve train package for it. We are looking at standard sizes on both valves, head diameters, lengths, stems, and all of that. The difference is the 10 times upgraded strength in the materials used.”

“It is a hollow stem in both the intake and exhaust valves. It is really lightweight. But it can be used in very high horsepower C8 applications. We have used them in twin turbos with guys making close to 1,000 horsepower. That is in conjunction with our dual valve spring package that comes with titanium retainer, a spring seat locator, and our valve locks. That is all included in our spring kit for the C8.”

“The beauty of this combination is that there are really no modifications or machining that needs to be done to the cylinder head. It is basically plug and play. Just install the product. No lapping on the valves. No need to modify anything throughout the platform. It is really great for 1,000 horsepower that we have created for a lot of different customers with these products.”

“We have also created for the street guys, a beehive type valve spring setup, which can also be used with our hollow stem intake and exhaust valves. That is more for the street performance guy who wants to put a hot cam in there who is looking to get better compression on the engine. The beehive comes with a titanium retainer and the spring seat locator in the valve blocks.”
