PRI 2016: EnginePro Shows Off New LS Parts

While you may or may not have heard of EnginePro, there is a good chance that you’ve run at least a few of their parts in one of your engines at one point or another. And regardless whether or not you’ve heard of them, their parts are second to none. That’s why we swung by the booth to see what was new.

The first new item we encountered was their relatively new LS3 valve. These stainless steel beauties retain the stock 2.165-inch measurement but go a long way in increasing the valves strength.

“Steve Morris does a lot of LS builds and these are typically the valves he chooses to run for most of his builds,” said Ron McKey of EnginePro. “They are stainless steel and one piece as opposed to the hollow stem valves that are known to break in the LS. The problem is a lot of guys put heftier valve spring on them and it stresses the hollow stem where it was welded together. This solves that problem and is one of the most popular items we sell.”

The next item we ran across was EnginePro’s new bushing trunnion kit. The upgrade increases the maximum load capability and prevents premature failures due to overloading the OE needle bearings in the stock trunnions. How much might you ask? Up to 300 times more than the standard needle bearing. Not only does it increase load capability, the bushings tend to last longer as well–especially in higher horsepower applications.

“Every LS realistically needs a rocker bushing kit,” McKey said. “They have been popular with us because, again, putting stiffer valve springs on them puts a lot of load on the stock needle bearing. Well, if those come apart, you’ll probably be rebuilding the entire engine. These won’t do that and they have been shown to last a lot longer.”

McKey tells us that they have seen a drastic upswing in LS engine parts demand and they aren’t expecting it to slow down anytime soon.

“All of the LS stuff all of the sudden is getting really strong with us,” McKey said. “Our H-beam rods are on backorder all the time. We can’t keep them in stock. In fact, we have 30-40 sets of them on back order right now and we just sent off 20.”
