Meziere Enterprises has completed testing on and released its new TS419 series starters designed for high-compression GM LS engine applications. As Meziere notes, this same engineering platform originally started with the 555 cubic-inch big-block Chevrolet, but by the time it was through the TS400 had found its way onto 800-plus cubic-inch behemoths. Large displacements and high cylinder pressures were no problem for the Meziere 400 series starters.— one customer going so far as to comment, “I thought I left the spark plugs out!”
“Test after test has given conclusive proof the Meziere TS400 series starters would spin most engines 20 to 30 percent faster than our competition. The reason is easy to understand once you see these starters. They came from a clean sheet of paper; we build the gears, the pinion, and all the internals to make these strong and develop more RPM; Meziere also does all the gear hardening in-house and wraps it up in a beautiful billet package,” Don Meziere shares.
The TS419 produces 2.2 kilowatts of power at 12 volts, or 2.95 horsepower, with a reduction ratio of 3.42:1. It weighs 12.9-pounds in all, and features an upgraded main shaft and drive, along with a billet drivetrain, gear housing, and pinion gear (bearing supported). The starter fits General Motors LS engines with a 168-tooth flexplate, and can be clocked at multiple angles.
