When it comes to high-performance racing parts for small-block Chevy engines destined for racing, there has been a dearth of new products for some time. It would almost appear as if everything designed to push the performance level of a SBC engine has already been created. Before we go much further down the “its all been done already” road, let us show you some new SBC valve covers from Moroso.
We can already hear the groans of “valve covers? What is new about SBC valve covers?” In many cases, this could be a valid question when a new product is released with simply a new color of the same product. However, that is not the case with Moroso’s recent release, the SBC valve cover with internal oilers with multiple oil-supply ports. While there is not a lot that is sexy about valve covers, in general, there is plenty of attraction in keeping a high-performance engine safe from lubrication starvation.
About The Design
Moroso’s engineers designed these valve covers to fit small-block Chevy engines with 13- to 23-degree cylinder heads that have the intake and exhaust valves in the conventional, stock location. Having the valves in the stock location is critical to the integral oiling system in Moroso’s new valve covers.
With plenty of space inside, these valve covers measure 3.25-inches tall and are designed to work with many OE and aftermarket rocker arms. Several parts distributors — like Jegs and Summit Racing — state these covers work best with T & D Machine Products rocker arms. We were warned the valve covers will not fit the All Pro 270-7 cylinder heads.
Fabricated from superior-quality aluminum and then welded to a one-piece billet rail, the covers then get machined to ensure a precision-flat mounting surface that will offer exceptional sealing capability.
The billet rail is machined with integral oil passages that support built-in spring oilers. The oilers have .025-inch removable jets, which are designed to supply the valvetrain with the engine’s lifeblood.
Designated with the part number 68332, each rail in Moroso’s SBC valve covers with oilers have multiple oil-supply ports where the supplied -4 AN male fittings or plugs can be screwed into. Having multiple oil-supply ports makes hose routing easier in Sprint Cars, Dirt Late Models, and even road race applications.
Features And Benefits:
- Air-tight sealing allows the engine to pull greater vacuum for improved ring seal and power
- The spring oilers have removable/replaceable .025-inch jets
- Each spring oiler has multiple oil-supply ports for the supplied -4 AN male fittings and plugs
- Having multiple oil-supply ports makes plumbing easier in Sprint Cars, Dirt Late Models, and even road race applications
