Welcome to EngineLabs, the leading online source for news, information and commentary covering performance engine technology and parts.
Although EngineLabs’ overall mission is defined by business objectives, market analysis and audience demographics, it can be summarized in three words: We like engines!
Our primary objective is to be your first destination when making informed decisions about engine builds, parts selection or just catching up on the latest news about engines. To cover this vast and diverse industry, the EngineLabs team will visit local engine shops, national aftermarket manufacturers and race garages throughout the country. We’ll also follow the automakers themselves as they lead the way in developing advanced powertrain technology. While EngineLabs will showcase the newest and hottest aftermarket equipment, we’ll also explore the creative minds and pioneering visions that design and build performance engines. We will ask “why” and “how” more often than “who” and “what.”
EngineLabs will present basic and advanced engine-building techniques.
The world of performance engines is changing every minute. Whether it’s a new rule that forces teams to scramble for a different setup, or a growing trend that sends street enthusiasts to their speed shop, we’ll follow all the happenings to keep you up on the latest news.
Engine technology is improving with every tap of the keyboard. Sophisticated computer modeling that was once available only to the automakers can now be found in engine shops around Charlotte or Indianapolis. If you don’t know how CFD and FEA are changing this industry, then you better bone up on your physics. It won’t be long before you can design your own cylinder ports on a home computer, send the info to a shop and have the CNC results on your doorstep in a week. Racers are already building their chassis that way, why not some of the critical engine parts?
With Pro Stock and NASCAR engine builders spending weeks just to find three repeatable horsepower on the dyno, you know that it’s also a very competitive industry. There will be secrets to hide, no doubt; but there are also mountains of available information to help racers and street enthusiasts design and build the best engine possible for their application.
We trust you’ll be a frequent visitor to EngineLabs, and you can also be a contributor. We’re looking for interesting and entertaining news about engines. If you’re at a shop and see a cool engine on the dyno, snap a few pictures and send us the info. If you have ideas for stories, we want to hear them. Whether you want more info on the basics like setting spark advance, or you’re eager to learn about more advanced topics like reversion, let us know. And most important, if you’re planning a unique engine build, drop us a line.
We can be reached via enginelabs@powerautomedia.com.
Looking forward to spending more time with all our engine enthusiasts friends, so let’s crank this bullet over!
