SEMA 2018: Edelbrock Introduces Several New Superchargers For 2018

There is just something about a supercharger that gets our gears turning. The flat torque curve, the increased horsepower, and the simple whine of the rotors all contribute to the mass appeal of this apparatus. Sure, nitrous and turbos are cool as well, but cramming mass amounts of air down the throat of the engine and hearing that extra thump erupt out of the exhaust is just euphoric. After all, there is nothing more in-your-face than a supercharger.

Edelbrock has just released new supercharger systems for several different vehicles at this years SEMA show. One of the new systems will bolt onto a GM V6 Colorado. Now, before you say why would you want a supercharger on a V6, hear us out. According to Eddie Loera of Edelbrock, this new system will take that stock V6 and make it produce 341-horsepower at the wheels. To give you a good comparison, the 2019 Silverado with the 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 355-horsepower. If you figure in a 15-percent drivetrain loss it would be around 300-horsepower at the wheels. This means you could have a much smaller, lighter truck making more power that its V8 counterpart.

This particular supercharger utilizes the 1740 EATON rotor package that is used in the Z06 which in return gives you OEM performance in an aftermarket supercharger. All of Edelbrock’s supercharger systems are all-inclusive and include everything you will need to get the install done in a weekend. This supercharger package is not just utilized on the Colorado, it is also available for the new V6 Camaro.

Not into Chevrolets? Don’t worry Ford fans, Edelbrock has you covered as well with two new applications for the Mustang GT and the F-150. The Ford superchargers use the 2650 rotor pack which is the largest Edelbrock offers and will make well over 600-horsepower in its stock configuration of the Stage 1 kit. If you want to push the limits, Edelbrock has seen up to 850-horsepower at the wheels with its Stage 2 system.

Edelbrock makes these superchargers for all types of vehicles, so if you are interested in making some noise, check them out at www.edelbrock.com for more information.
