VP Racing Teams With M-Sport For R5 FiA Rally Fuel

M-Sport_6x4_72The folks at M-Sport build some of the top-tier rally cars for the the world’s stage, and notably the FiA World Rally Championships (WRC). These high-strung hatch backs are purpose built racers, retaining the steel body shell of the original vehicle but featuring pumped up engines, tailor-made suspension, and bespoke racing components.

R5_3x4_300VP Racing Fuels has long been a supplier of choice among racers of all arenas, and is now teaming up to develop a rally program with Cumbria, England-based M-Sport. These cars experience all manner of operating conditions, from searing desert stages in Rally Mexico, to freezing forests in Sweden. Their engines and fuels need to be up to the task.

According to VP, “The partnership was formed during the development of the new Ecoboost-powered Evo engine. M-Sport engineers found marked performance gains against other 102 Octane fuels, concluding that VP R5 was the best fuel on the market for the Fiesta R5.”

While the restrictions on these 1.6-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engines are exacting and extensive they still output north of 300 horsepower. The development of such a powerplant requires cooperative exchange and cross-pollination of disciplines. “Committed to delivering the best possible product to our valued clients around the globe, all Fiesta R5 Evos will now be mapped and delivered on VPR5 — something that we hope will only increase the impressive level of success we’ve enjoyed with the new-evolution Fiesta R5,” explained M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson.

Hopefully advances in rally fuel like R5 will foreshadow VPs dedication to serving all forms of racing and street vehicles alike. “We look forward to a successful long-term partnership with M-Sport and are committed to helping keep them on the leading edge of performance for years to come,” concluded Mark Ticen of VP.
