NHRA Super Stock competitors running small-block Chevrolet engines in their machines can now take advantage of brand-new cylinder head castings from World Products instead of scouring junkyards to locate a set of factory castings.
In an effort to allow competitors to use current-day, durable products, the NHRA Technical Department has added the S/R cylinder heads to the NHRA Accepted Products list for use in the class.
There are three separate versions of the casting that have been approved, all cast from high-density iron alloy to provide strength. World has also designed the product with extra thick decks and screw-in rocker studs, saving the racer the expense of having those installed. The cylinder head is a bolt-on replacement for the factory cylinder head and, according to the company, is far more durable and robust than the factory design, which is known for being crack-prone.
World says the small-chamber head is perfect for 305 cubic inch engines; there are three part numbers approved for competition at this time.
