Project LS5.0 is essentially the real-world creation of the hypothetical engine we “built” in  DynoSim article, based on the original LS v Coyote competition. The whole purpose is to create, in real life, an engine to answer the question once and for all, “how would the LS fair against a Coyote in an equal-displacement N/A showdown?” No more “but the LS is so big” to fall back on. Cube for cube, the LS5.0 is being designed to match the crucial specs and powerband of the Coyote engine in the original showdown and see how pushrod and DOHC engines match up on a more even playing field. Plus, who doesn’t like the idea of an 8,000 rpm hydraulic roller pushrod engine?
