Here’s a sweet-sounding 470ci Mopar big-block running on the DTS dyno at IMM Engines in Indio, California.
Shop boss Brian Hafliger says the customer supplied the short block, which is based on a low-deck block bored to 4.375-inch and fitted with a 440 Source 3.910-inch-stroke rotating assembly. Compression ratio is 12.4:1. He then hand ported the Mopar Stage VI wedge cylinder heads so they’d flow around 370 cfm at .700-inch lift. A port-matched Indy intake sits on top with along with a Quick Fuel 1050 cfm carb. A Comp Cams flat-tappet camshaft works its magic through a set of T&D Machine 1.7:1 rockers. A Charlie’s oil pan stores the lubricant, MSD supplies the spark and TTI exhaust takes care of the spent fumes.
Built for bracket racing in a ’68 ‘Cuda, the engine pulls 650 horsepower on 110-octane fuel with 590 lb-ft peak torque.
