We’re going back into the original 5.0 Mustang movement! Project Retro 5.0 will recreate all the tech articles from back in the 1990s, but with the modern versions of components, in order to see how far we’ve progressed, technologically.
Eventually, the project will culminate in a supercharged 5.0L in the spirit of the ’90s, but with a host of modern parts. Starting with a low-mileage 5.0 HO engine out of a 1993 Thunderbird, we’re tearing it down, replacing rings, bearings, and gaskets, along with making a few minor changes for reliability, before heading to the dyno for a baseline. Once there, we’ll start swapping parts.
