We’ve showcased engine builder DIY innovation before, including building an intake manifold for four Quadrajet carbs to crankshaft polishing and fixing plastic intake manifolds. But this video from Good Times Racing has catapulted to the top of the class.
When the team discovered the local machine shop was overbooked, it found that a well-equipped woodworking shop could handle the task. One conclusion is undeniable: these guys were definitely in a hurry to get reliefs cut into the top of their pistons.
The 98-second video is certainly mesmerizing. It’s like when you can’t take your eyes away from a train wreck, but you trust these guys know how to use a mic and all will be fine when the engine starts up. Kudos to Good Times Racing for sharing and possibly helping another team in dire straits. But we’ll stick with a Bridgeport.
