While walking through a quality race shop is always a treat for any engine enthusiast, this quick video is a 4-minute stroll through paradise.
Here’s an inside look at KRE Race Engines, a shop based in Queensland, Australia, that is well known for building sprint-car and V8 Supercar engines. Not a lot of 4-bangers and overhead cams here, it’s just pure, raw horsepower.
The video certainly showcases the best practices of any successful engine shop. There are the obvious signs of organization and cleanliness. The shop provides plenty of well-lit space, efficient work and storage areas, and it’s laid out with an optimized work flow in mind. KRE owner Ken McNamara is the tour guide for this video, which ends up in the dyno room for a run with a Holden V8 Supercar engine on the stand. Check out the handy display panel behind the engine, with Lambda readouts for each cylinder and race-style gauges for easy viewing.
