King Engine Bearings Launches New Race Bearing Application Guide

Long known for its line of technologically advanced engine bearings, King Engine Bearings has developed a new application guide to cover 2020-’21. More than just a catalog, it’s what’s inside of the new guide that is revolutionary.

“King is focused on developing new applications every year,” says Limor Karpatkin, King’s vice president of sales. “This year we have expanded to new platforms such as Top Fuel and Powersports. In both, we are presenting new materials and geometry features that don’t exist in the market today.”

We’ve written about King’s pMax Black and pMaxKote bearings recently, and in this new guide, those applications have been greatly expanded. Additionally, there are two new announcements in the application guide of note.

The first is a line of bearings designed specifically for Top Fuel applications. The TFC line of bearings is constructed and coated specifically for use in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Mod engine applications. The TFC bearings are designed to protect and preserve the surrounding components under the expected extreme conditions the engines thrive in.

Then there is the new GPC line of bearings. GPC is a silver-based material that is designed for extreme load capacity. The tri-metal material is said to be able to withstand 17,000psi loading, versus similar bearings in a more traditional tri-metal composition which peak at 11,000psi loading.

Additionally, King Engine Bearings is jumping into the Powersports arena, with the first full line of Powersports-specific engine bearings. Utilizing pMax Black bearing technology, King will offer bearings in five grades of bearing, in standard, oversized, and undersized options. To start, the lineup will be available for Hayabusa, Suzuki GSX-R 1,000, and Kawasaki ZX-14/R engines, with more applications soon to follow.
