The only job more frustrating than cutting steel-braided hose is trying to install the fitting on the end of a hose that’s frayed from the saw blades. Compressing the frayed steel braids together is near impossible. Then there’s the pain from ultra-fine wires piercing your fingers while working push-lock fittings onto the hose.
What if you could install a new fitting without drawing blood? Koul Tools in Lake Havasu City, Arizona has a simple but unique solution to fighting the battle between frayed hose ends and socket fittings.
Manufactured with a high-tech composite material, the tool can be used in a vise and will withstand considerable abuse while protecting the socket fitting. The Koul Tool can also save money by reducing the times that hoses are cut too short while trying to clean up a frayed end.
Three separate kits are offered, each packaged with three sizes per kit. The small kit includes -4, -6 and -8. The large kit includes -10, -12 and -16. The Hot Rod kit includes -6, -8 and -10. There’s also a Pro Combo that packages both the small and large kits together, and the -6, -8 and -10 sizes are sold separately.
According to Koul Tools, you simply position the socket into the tool, mount the tool in a vise, then twist the hose in. Koul Tools does not recommend using Teflon-style hoses with its tool.
