With the rising popularity of the late-model Mopar HEMI platform, a need exists for engine hard parts that can handle the abuse seen when forced induction is applied. The team at Eagle Specialty Products saw an opportunity, and recently released an all-new rotating assembly to service the marketplace.

“We use a 4340-steel forged crankshaft with a 4.050-inch stroke, a set of forged MAHLE pistons with GRAFAL skirt coating, and Eagle’s H-beam connecting rods. The assembly also comes with main bearings, rod bearings, and piston rings,” says Eagle’s Robert Loftis.

The assembly is capable of handling well over 1,000 horsepower, according to Loftis, and offers a one-stop solution with all of the lower-end parts a customer will need for assembly.

“We use a proprietary 4340 alloy material that we’ve been refining for over 20 years. The connecting rods are available with 8740 ARP capscrews or their L19 bolts, and are finished on CNC sizing equipment,” says Loftis.

The crankshaft and connecting rods are also available with Eagle’s ESP Armor surface finishing process, which has a number of benefits to the customer that will improve engine performance. The ESP Armor process is designed to improve engine bearing life and the ability of the crankshaft and connecting rods to shed oil, helping to improve oil control and lubricity. By reducing friction, oil temperatures are reduced; the company has seen gains in power on the dyno in their testing.

“Adding the ESP Armor to the parts gives an automatic one-year warranty regardless of the application,” says Loftis. With aftermarket engine tuning starting to appear in the market for the HEMI vehicles, a rotating assembly that can handle big horsepower is a must, and Eagle is ahead of the curve.
