SEMA 2014: Quick Fuel Unveils 500 cfm Two-barrel For Racers

Designed for dirt-track racers limited to 500 cfm, the new XP-4412 series from Quick Fuel Technology is just one of numerous new products in the company’s SEMA booth this year.

The new two-barrel carb will be available in three models rated at 500 cfm that run gas, alcohol or E85. A fourth model is rated at 600 cfm on gas and is suited toward “outlaw” classes.

“This is our first two-barrel carb,” notes Quick Fuel’s Bill Wetzel.

The 500 cfm models all come with 1.375-inch venturi to satisfy sanctioning bodies running under the gauge rule. The 600 cfm carb has a larger 1.450-inch venturi since it’s not measured in tech inspections.

One of the keys to the improved performance is the straight-leg boosters mounted lower in the venturi to provide higher airflow. Other tricks include changeable emulsion bleeds, wedge floats, billet metering block and dual inlet fuel bowl with sight windows on each side.

The all-aluminum construction is treated to Quick Fuel’s Black Diamond coating to prevent corrosion and help reduce fuel temperature.

Quick Fuel now offers the upgraded QfT 427 electric fuel pump, and also introduced a full line of mechanical fuel pumps for popular applications.

Quick Fuel also showed off its QFT 427 electric fuel pump. Last year Quick Fuel introduced the 400 model, but feedback and continued development spurred the release of the 427 that is not only more powerful but boasts improved durability. Quick Fuel changed some materials and design features, including adding a bearing pocket for the motor shaft, to eliminate unwanted vibrations. Other improvements include epoxied armature windings, new rotor made from hardened sintered iron compound and copper is fused into the rotor to enhance lubricity.

“We still offer the 400 but will be making running changes to the catalog,” says Wetzel. “Eventually it will be phased out in favor of the 427.”

Quick Fuel offers a higher-horsepower version of its QFI fuel-injection system, shown here on top of a Black Diamond coated intake manifold.

The pump is compatible with all fuels and features a -10 AN inlet/outlet with a -8 AN bypass.

In other news from Quick Fuel, the company is now offering a full line of mechanical fuel pumps for popular applications, including SBC, BBC, SBF, BBF and Mopar. Finally, Quick Fuel has an upgraded version of its QFI fuel injection that is good for up to 700 horsepower. It was shown on a new dual-plane intake for small-block Chevys that features the company’s unique Black Diamond coating, which may soon be available on valve covers and air cleaners.
