It’s often been said “you gotta start ’em young” if you want a child to succeed in life. The most successful people in our world are typically those that learn the value of work ethic at a young age. Regardless of the subject matter, athletes, businessmen and women, computer whiz kids, actors, and yes, even auto mechanics and engineers often begin to display tendencies at a young age which will help them later in life. It’s up to the people around those children–the parents and teachers–to nurture these positive qualities and give the child a chance to succeed.

You often hear stories about our most skilled athletes spending long hours in the driveway playing catch with Dad, or honing that jump shot long after the sun has gone down and the mosquitoes have come out to feast. Or the computer geniuses like Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak getting their start by assembling computers in a garage and turning that into the world’s most valuable company. And we’re all aware of the humble dorm-room beginnings of the mighty Book of Face.

In this short video, an awesome pair of parents take five-year-old Charlie and plop her in front of a 4.0-liter Jeep straight-six engine, then proceed to show her how to remove the pushrods from  the engine. Not only is Charlie an adorable youngster, she also displays a few traits that bode well for her future. She’s not afraid to get dirty, she takes direction well, and she’s happy to be there.

These are all qualities that serve one well in the workplace, and it’s great to see her getting a solid start so young in life. Keep on keepin’ on, Charlie!
