V12 LS Engine Among SEMA Introductions

The Australian-built V12LS engine will be one of hundreds of new products unveiled at the 2016 SEMA Show that opens ion November 1. Show officials have offered a sneak peek at 75 new products, and we’ve picked out some of the more interesting engine parts from that list.

The V12LS was developed by splicing together two V8s and removing two cylinder from each. Custom crankshaft, camshaft and intake manifold were designed but many standard LS1 parts can be used on the engine. With a street-friendly cam, the 519 ci V12 makes 717 horsepower on pump gas. It will be available as a long-block or turnkey motor, and company officials say the overall length is just 8.8 inches longer than a standard V8. They’re also promising that there will be other surprises unveiled at SEMA, including car projects with the engine installed.

Also released in the SEMA announcement was a new fuel injector for ’03-’07 Ford Powerstroke diesel engines from Sinister. These are built on a re-manned body to help reduce costs and designed to work as a replacement as well on modified engines. The injectors feature new coils, harness assemblies, electrical connections and a redesigned spool valve to help prevent stiction.

Another new product in the SEMA release is an upgraded OEM rocker arm for the LS1 from Comp Cams. Offered in a 1.7:1 ratio, the rockers feature a stronger trunnion that is secured with a snap ring. Utilizing caged roller bearings, the rockers are designed to allow increased lift. Available for LS1, LS3 and LS7, they come in a black-oxide finish.

Finally, we saw a new cross-fire cap from Performance Distributors. This allows users to route plug wire neatly for each bank of cylinders. It comes with a 50-volt DUI coil and high-dwell Dyna-Module, and the carbon composite gear works with any camshaft.

Hundreds more new and innovative parts will be unveiled at the show, which opens Nov. 1 in Las Vegas and continues through Nov. 4. Check back with EngineLabs to see the best of those powertrain parts, and we’ll also showcase the hottest engines we find on the show floor.
