Steve Morris Engines Adds Second Dyno And More For 2015

We’ve been working with Steve and the guys at Steve Morris Engines regularly, showcasing some of their incredible builds and digging deep into the details with shop manager Alex Esnaola.

Recently an email turned up in the ol’ inbox with some exciting news from Steve – the company is in the process of adding a second dyno cell with the goal of testing engines at the 4,000 horsepower level (!). That means that we’ll be able to bring you more in-depth stories on some of the most insane racing engines built anywhere in the world.

dynocell“After breaking more parts than you can imagine (2,000 to 3,000 HP engines will do that to you) I have saved up a lot of extra parts and decided that this would be the year to do it. I have totally redesigned my old dyno cart and stands to match the new dyno cart and stands,” Morris explains.

“The new second dyno room is going to be even better. My general motto in life is ‘make it better!’ This dyno is going to get my first all billet absorber with my custom made shaft and flange. We’re very excited about this! I also have some new top secret testing going on in this dyno cell, so a lot more development will be going on here since we won’t have to take engines off and on all the time.”

In addition to the new cell under construction, Morris has been working on his Trailblazer SS that’s received one of the company’s new Budget Brawler LS3 engine packages and a custom turbo system featuring a 75mm billet wheel – he’s looking for 1,000-plus wheel horsepower from that machine when it’s done, and we have an article already in the works on the combination.

In addition to other race-related updates from some of his customers, Morris also shared some photos of some of the company’s billet parts, including the intake manifold and valve covers on Andy Frost’s record-setting Red Victor machine from across the pond and the other sweet engine above that belongs to Californian Grant Fraysier, for his sand-drag Hummer.

Big things happening at Steve Morris Engines these days – and we’re positioned to bring them to you firsthand, as we’ve got an exclusive engine build underway with them that we’ll be bringing to you later this year. Stay tuned!
