As the leaves start to change colors and a chill enters the air, you know the season of gift-giving is upon us. So we figured, what better gift to give one lucky EngineLabs reader than to give away an LME-built 1,500-horsepower Vortech-supercharged LS engine? Besides getting an awesome engine, if you happen to be attending the PRI Show in Indianapolis, Indiana December 9-11th, you can stop by our booth and watch it be assembled live, on the show floor. And not only can you register to win at our PRI booth (#951) while you are there, but you can get additional chances to win by visiting our partners’ booths throughout the show. (Registration is now live and you can enter to win HERE.)
Killer Foundation
Using a formula very similar to the engine they crafted for the LS vs Coyote Shootout Part 2, LME will be starting with a Dart SHP iron engine block. LME will be machining the block to a final bore size of 4.125 inches along with all of their other standard finish machining. From there, a Callies Magnum 4.00-inch stroke, fully counterweighted wet-sump crankshaft will bring the displacement to 427 cubic inches. The billet main caps will be secured in place by an ARP 8740 chromoly main stud kit.

Instead of the usual engine build room at LME, this engine will be built right on the PRI Show floor at EngineLabs’ booth during the show.
Attached to the Callies crankshaft will be a set of Callies Enforcer-series I-beam connecting rods. Measuring 6.125 inches long and forged from 4330V steel, the Enforcer rods will connect a set of Diamond Pistons 2,000-horsepower-capable Race-Series forged 2618 pistons via a set of H-13 tool-steel wrist pins from Trend Performance.
Total Seal piston rings will keep all the cylinder pressure where it belongs. Clevite H-series main and rod bearings, along with a set of DuraBond camshaft bearings, will keep everything rotating smoothly, while an ATI Super Damper will manage engine harmonics. Keeping the engine lubricated will be a Melling 10296 gerotor oil pump drawing oil from a Milodon low profile oil pan, designed to clear the 4.00-inch stroke crank.

Unlike the previous LS vs. Coyote engine, this engine will have top-shelf ARP studs holding the mains and the cylinder heads in place. Similar to the LS vs Coyote engine, each cylinder will feature six fasteners for additional clamp load. We’re making sure we give away a reliable piece of equipment.
Big Boy Top End
Topping off the 427-cube short-block is a set of the same Brodix BR7 castings that were on the LS vs. Coyote 2 engine. That is to say, the six-bolt castings will undergo the same full LME CNC machining treatment to achieve over 400cfm of flow. Ferrea 2.200-inch titanium intake valves and 1.615-inch Inconel exhaust valves will be controlled by LME’s dual valvespring kit with titanium retainers. Unlike the LS vs Coyote engine, this one will have its heads secured by ARP’s 1/2-inch head stud kit, with six fasteners per cylinder and Cometic MLX head gaskets for maximum sealing.
A custom Comp Cams camshaft ground to LME’s specifications will move the COMP reduced-travel hydraulic-roller tie-bar lifters. In turn, the 3/8 heavy-wall pushrods from Manley will actuate the Comp LS7 BSR shaft rocker kit in order to translate cam motion into valve motion.

The Brodix BR7 castings will be completely CNC machined to LME’s specs in-house for some insane flow numbers.
Topping off the combination is the new FAST LSX-HR 103 mm intake manifold, paired with a FAST 103 mm Big Mouth throttle body. A set of Holley 160 lb/hr fuel injectors will provide fuel, while a set of Holley EFI Smart Coils will handle the spark. A Holley EFI Terminator X designed for a 58x reluctor wheel will control everything once assembled, and will allow the new owner of the giveaway engine complete control of the combination.
We wouldn’t want to give away an engine without providing the owner with boost. Providing the pressurization will be a Vortech V-30 94A supercharger with a cog drive belt system, capable of moving more than 1,950 cfm of air into the engine. If the winner wants something a little less radical with a serpentine belt system, A V-7 YSi-B unit, rated at a peak output of 1,950 cfm can be substituted.

Comp Cams’ LS7 BSR shaft rocker system will be utilized in this combination, as it has been in so many different EngineLabs projects.
Winning the Beast
Once the engine is completed at the PRI show, it will be shipped back to LME where the team will break the engine in on the engine dyno before tuning it for the blower the winner selects and providing the winner the engine and a dyno sheet and tuneup for the package.
We’ll be announcing how to enter the contest at this year’s SEMA Show on November 2, 2021, so make sure that you check back here for all the details on how to enter to win, as well as how to gain extra entries to the giveaway.

Once the engine is complete, it will be shipped from the PRI Show in Indianapolis to LME’s facility in Texas to be broken in on the engine dyno and tuned with the winner’s choice of either a Vortech V-30 94A supercharger or a Vortech V-7 YSi-B supercharger.
