EFI University Offers Unprecedented Access With Delta Lambda Program

One thing that Ben Strader has always been adamant about is making sure that knowledge is shared. In fact, that was a driving force behind him creating EFI University in the first place. Now, with the landscape of the performance industry changing, he is changing with it, developing the first online-based “Fraternity” of engine performance enthusiasts — the Delta Lambda Fraternity.

More than just a social club, the Delta Lambda Fraternity will give members exclusive access to some of the engine performance industry’s greatest names, as well as to lessons and education not found anywhere else on the internet. And, one thing that Strader has made abundantly clear when discussing the project, is that information will flow both ways, with members having input on what lessons are taught.

Strader has set up a number of features available only to Delta Lambda members, like exclusive online training sessions with live discussions, access to all of the previous training sessions and discussions, a private members’ discussion group, links to watch real-time testing of EFI-University’s special projects (you might even see an EngineLabs project or two on the dyno), as well as exclusive discounts on EFI University and industry partner products and services.

Speaking from personal experience, the amount of stuff happening every time we visit EFI U that, for whatever reason, doesn’t make it into the magazine, is incredible, and frankly a shame not to share. Being able to see real-time testing on the dyno, Spintron, or even just on the flow bench can be far more enlightening than just seeing a static report after the fact. While the information gained is valuable, the experience itself is an equally important part of the process.

Strader’s mission to bring previously inaccessible knowledge and experience to the masses has found an interesting new digital twist. Traveling and taking time off of work to attend a course was always a challenge, even before the pandemic. Not to mention how, in a short week-long course, absorbing the amount of information presented was akin to drinking from a firehose. Now, all the barriers to entry have been lowered, with less money, travel, and time required. Whether it’s a first foray into the EFI University education experience, or as a way to maintain your edge in the industry, the Delta Lambda Fraternity is offering a unique experience. You can learn more about Delta Lambda here or at the EFI University website.

What Is Delta Lambda?

Anyone even slightly familiar with scientific notation and EFI tuning will immediately catch the significance of the two Greek letters: uppercase delta () denotes change, and lowercase lambda (λ) is a way to denote air-fuel ratio where, regardless of fuel type, the stoichiometric point is 1.00. So, in EFI-based scientific notation, ∆λ means “change in air-fuel ratio.” A fun easter egg that ties in with the Greek letters typically used to name a college fraternity.
