With only 400 examples built over the car’s one-year model run, the Ferrari Enzo is one of the nameplate’s most exclusive machines. As the initial selling price of the car was $659,330, these are not exactly the type of car you’ll see at your local Cars & Coffee event; rather the vast majority were snapped up by the world’s elite to be stored away in hyperbaric chambers or plastic bags or whatever the heck it is you do with a car when you spend that sort of money on it.
That being said, to see an Enzo powerplant pop up on Ebay isn’t exactly a normal occurrence. The 65°, 6.0-liter V12 engine uses four valves per cylinder, four camshafts, and a variable valve timing system to produce 651 hp at 7,800 rpm, and 485 lb-ft torque at 5,500 rpm – a high-winding redhead of the finest order.
On top is a Motronic ME7 multi-point fuel injection system from Bosch. It achieves this displacement and performance through the use of a 91.9mm bore, 75.2mm stroke, and 11.2:1 compression ratio.
The engine up for sale is offered with only 1,000 miles, complete with ECU and carbon-fiber air intake on top, according to the seller, and will cross the auction block at $89,900 – plus shipping from Germany. So if there’s a huge wallet stuck in your back pocket, now’s your chance to pick up an engine that will certainly make you the talk of the town at your next car cruise.
Not a bad deal if you like setting money on fire – or have enough of it to do so. Then again, if you’re looking at this purchase, the money probably isn’t an issue.
