We’re always on the prowl for cool engine parts that aren’t available anymore, and this eBay find chock-full of 427 SOHC Ford parts and pieces struck us as one that our readers would be interested in. The seller says he’s been hoarding this stuff for years, picking up pieces over the last 30 years–items from cylinder heads to Hilborn mechanical fuel injection parts.
How about a set of matching Mickey Thompson factory-experimental cast-aluminum Hemi SOHC heads? There are very few of these castings in the world; rumors say that somewhere in the neighborhood of two dozen castings were ever produced. Mickey himself used a set on his supercharged dragster, and another set was used on the M/T Thunderbolt driven by Jess Tyree, but very few pairs of these ever made it into the hands of racers. The seller states that the heads are in rough condition and will need to be repaired, but that’s par for the course with rare items like these.
Also listed is a brand, new, new-old-stock Tecalemit-Jackson mechanical fuel injection setup for the 427 SOHC. This electro-pneumatic injection system was rare among systems of the 60s in that it actually measured the fuel requirements needed rather than “guessing” from other measurements taken like competing systems of the day. T-J injection worked on the principle of continuous injection into the induction system between the throttle butterfly and intake valve. It was touted as offering smooth running capability through injecting all cylinders with an equal air/fuel charge;the company claimed that removing the carburetor and choke allowed for a larger air charge and improved breathing.
Other parts listed include dual-quad intake manifolds, factory distributors, engine blocks, timing chain and rocker components, and more. If you’re a Cammer fanatic, then you need to check out this auction!
