One of the most important things you can do to increase the longevity of your engine is to get oil where it needs to be before firing it up. Meziere knows this and has developed a kit that pressurizes your oiling system every time you start the engine, getting the oil where it needs to be, before the engine ever sees combustion.
This oil priming kit uses a little gerotor pump,” explains Don Meziere. “On my racecar, I have it wired right in with my fuel prime circuit. When I kick it on, I’ll watch the fuel pressure come up and the oil pressure come up. If it’s cold oil, I’ll see about 45 psi, and if it’s warm oil, it’ll be like 18 to 20 psi. That’s plenty to keep the valvetrain happy, and you’ve got the crank floating, and it’s just really good for everything.” That pre-engine-start oil flow can really extend the life of an expensive engine and its components.

The kit includes Meziere’s WP723 12-volt pump designed for more viscous fluids, a pair of -6AN pump fittings, a specialized drain plug with an integrated side port, four feet of -6AN hose, and four -6 fittings. It also comes with mounting and wiring hardware. “We’ve been trying some different positive displacement pumps, and this gerotor pump is compact and powerful,” Meziere explains.

“This works anywhere you want to apply it. I think the best application is the big cubic inch drag and drive cars. They are tough on oiling. Any engine builder we’ve talked to has loved this idea. We’ve been doing kits for the small-block and big-block Chevys, but this will adapt to anything. You just have to mount it, access the oil, and access a pressure galley. If you have a basic knowledge of the engine architecture, you’re able to plumb this.”
If pre-oiling your engine is a priority, this kit from Meziere looks like a well-designed, effective choice to reduce the start-up wear on your prized powerplant.
