Cranking out four-digit horsepower from a factory-backed crate engine used to sound like pure fantasy. Ford Racing Parts shattered those expectations at the SEMA Show by pulling the covers off the supercharged Megazilla 2.0.

While the original 2022 version delivered 615 horsepower in naturally aspirated form, this latest iteration nearly doubles that output to claim the crown as the mightiest crate motor ever offered by a major automaker.

Pumping out more than 1,200 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque on race fuel, this beast takes the 7.3-liter pushrod platform into insane new territory.

Reaching those violent power levels took much more than slapping a blower onto an existing long-block. Product Manager Mike Goodwin tasked his engineering crew with running a dedicated development program to fortify every single internal weak link.

Sitting right on top is a massive Gen-6 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger spun by a heavy-duty 10-rib accessory drive system and fed by 95-pound-per-hour fuel injectors.

Inside the deep-skirt cast-iron block, machinists eliminated the factory cooling saw cuts between the cylinder bores to keep head gaskets intact under heavy boost.

Six-bolt main caps secure the bottom end while Callies H-beam rods and custom-alloy MAHLE forged pistons deliver a 10.5:1 compression ratio.

To finish the long-block, the Megazilla 2.0 relies on ARP2000 head studs to clamp CNC-ported aluminum heads firmly over a boost-specific camshaft.

Compact overhead-valve exterior dimensions make this giant pushrod mill surprisingly easy to tuck into vintage street rods and classic pickups.

To prove how wild this package gets in the real world, the customization team dropped the debut engine into a menacing Arctic rescue concept called the Frostwarden Bronco. Rolling on 42-inch BFGoodrich tires, custom Weld bead lock wheels, Bilstein dampers, and upgraded Dana axles, the rig easily handles the brutal torque without breaking a sweat on rocky trails.

Builders itching to drop the Megazilla 2.0 into their own garage projects can expect crates to start shipping during the first quarter of next year.
