PRI 2019: FIC’s New 1440cc With USCAR Plug/Injector Size Calculator

While many think their stock injectors will be fine with a few power-adders slapped on, the reality is that more fuel needs to be added in most cases. It’s surprising to see how many people rely on various stock fuel components pushed to limits running injectors to their maximum duty cycles. While at PRI, we decided to stop in at Fuel Injector Clinic since it had a new injector to complement its already substantial line of fuel-spitters. Our contact there gave us the details on the new 1440cc injector aimed directly at late-model domestic and LS-swapped cars.

“We found there was a real need in the aftermarket for an injector offering in-between our current 1200cc and 1650cc products. In addition, this new 1440 comes with a USCAR plug, so it will plug directly into the stock harness on most domestic applications,” says Randy Earle, head of sales and marketing at FIC. “Many of our customers were finicky about having the adapter on there for the connector, so our new injector solves this problem for those customers.”

With the ability to plug directly into late-model fuel-injector harnesses, the next hurdle was a competitive price-point for the 1440. While competing 1300cc injectors out there might cost around $1,800, these offer more fuel-flow at 1440cc but cost a bit less at $1,400 for a balanced set of eight injectors.

Each set of Fuel Injector Clinic 1440cc injectors come bench-tested and flow-matched to ensure there will be no variance on a leaner cylinder that might get a bit more air. We’ve used this technique firsthand, where one cylinder might be running slightly lean due to the factory manifold design, so the fattest of the flow-matched bunch is installed there.

These high-impedance injectors are perfect for late-model domestic muscle but also swapped cars or alternative fuel. Many out there have opted for Coyote 5.0 swaps, LS, and LT swaps in a wide range of chassis from classic muscle cars to domestics like the Miata, FD RX-7, and all kinds of Nissan S-Chassis. The injectors are also compatible with all fuels, which is perfect for an increasing number of E85 converted cars.

If you are having trouble figuring out what size injector you might need for your build, Fuel Injector Clinic launched a new injector calculator on its website to help customers in their decision-making process. Its online HTML-based injector calculator is a handy tool to find out how to spec injectors for a specific engine and mods. If you have additional questions, Fuel Injector Clinic’s technical team is always available to take your call to discuss your project.

Florida-based Fuel Injector Clinic not only designs and manufactures high-performance injectors right here in the USA, but as the name suggests, they clean, test, and service injectors too.
