Wiseco has rolled out their new, second-generation Big Block Chevy race pistons here at IMIS, part of their new Quick 16 Series of piston kits for drag racing applications. Designed with technical input from leading engine builders and based on Pro Stock technology, these pistons are aimed at the big-valve, big cubic inch engines that are all the rage in sportsman drag racing.
The Quick 16 pistons are packed with features, including anti-detonation grooves, 15-degree “Pro Stock” pressure seal grooves, vertical gas ports, Armorglide skirt coating, reinforced decks, and profile domes for nitrous engines.
The pistons shown here, a demo product of the soon-to-be-released model, are lighter than the previous version and pack higher compression designs. Made of 2618 high-temp Alloy and constructed as a strutted-style forging, they carry many of the same great features of the original, albeit with many lofty improvements, including their compression ratios up to 14.5:1. They’ll also feature larger domes, hollow in design for lighter weight.
These pistons will fit your more conventional-style BBC cylinder heads that are commonly found on the 500 to 700 cubic inch race motors in the .90 classes and other bracket categories. Wiseco’s current Quick 16 offering includes gas ported, 50cc dome models in bores ranging from 4.600″ to 4.625″, strokes from 4.250″ to 4.750″, and a range of rod lengths, deck heights, and compression ratios.
