Kawasaki will continue promoting its supercharged platform, announcing at the recent Tokyo Motor Show that the Ninja H2 and H2R will be offered in limited production through 2016 and also showing off a wicked concept sketch that also affirms the boost technology.

Officials said they are encouraging a “Balanced Supercharged Engine” philosophy that would reduce fuel usage through the use of electronically controlled flaps on the supercharger inlet side. These flaps would manage the volume and direction of the airflow to suit the needs of the engine as wells as improve fuel economy. The Concept SC01, also known as the Spirit Charger, reflects a softer, more luxurious approach to performance riding.

The $50,000, track-only H2R features a gear-driven, centrifugal-style supercharger provides up to 20 pounds of boost to the 998cc inline-4. The over-square cylinders (76 x 55 mm) are fed through individual 50mm throttle bodies with dual injection. The engine is rated at 300 horsepower.
