Don Meziere and the team at Meziere Enterprises are racers at their core; providing solutions to problems experienced by their customers (and even on their own race vehicles) is the basis for their everyday existence. Their new brushless-motor intercooler pump is capable of being controlled by CANbus technology or any other wiring solution.
“There is a lot of controllability in terms of speed due to the brushless motor. The motor also has thermal protection, and the typical RPM is twice what a DC motor would be. What that allows us to do is create a lot of outlet pressure. That lends itself particularly well to intercooler applications,” notes Meziere.
The pump is geared to work well in any intercooler situation, from a factory-style application like a GT500 Mustang all the way up to a twin-turbo all-out race piece using an air-to-water intercooler solution.
The CANbus technology means that the pump can be controlled by any engine management system that uses the platform. The pump is in the final stages of development as of this writing and will be released soon.
“We felt that our current line of impeller pumps, although we have a good baseline for cooling engines, intercoolers present their own set of problems that require specific solutions,” Meziere says. “We felt like we had some improvements that could be made in order to produce a product that’s better than anything else out there. The whole goal was to make a part that is clearly superior.”
The pump uses a simple four-bolt mounting solution, giving the end user a number of options in terms of affixing the pump to the mounting surface.
