With three automotive piston lines being manufactured under one roof, United Engine & Machine has a pretty good handle on what it takes to build compression in an automotive engine. They manufacture the Silv-O-Lite OE Aftermarket piston line, KB Performance Pistons, and Icon Racing pistons in their Carson City, Nevada facility. The company was started in 1922 by Deuta Sulprizio, Sr., and today the company produces pistons for use all over the world.
Like all large companies, they often make running changes to product design, discontinue product that might not be moving as quickly as needed, or have another reason to put a piston design into the clearance rack. These are the same products you would have bought at full price in the past, but now have the opportunity to purchase for a song and a dance (OK, we’re kidding on the dance…)
Depending upon the piston selected, materials range from hypereutectic designs all the way up to hardcore 2618 aluminum forged pistons.
There is a huge list of these no-longer-produced items over on their website, which you should check out. The pricing is simply ridiculously low.
For example, there’s a Ford 347 flat top piston from Icon available for $56.36 each – that’s $450.88 for a complete set of eight.
The pistons available range from stock replacements to oddball fitments to racing pistons, so head on over and check it out – they may have exactly what you need to finish up your project.
