Holley EFI Training, West Coast Style

Holley-EFI-Training-Course

If you weren’t impressed enough with our recent trips to EFI University‘s Lake Havasu City, AZ campus, then perhaps you will be more excited with the prospect of getting hands-on experience with Holley EFI software. EFIU is going to be hosting and leading the Holley EFI Factory Training for west coast users, not able to make the trip all the way out to Bowling Green.

Excited at the new partnership, EFI University founder Ben Strader said the new class fits in nicely with their current curriculum, “Strategically the smartest thing is to take our tuning classes first because this training is about how to use their software. So this course serves as an addition to, not a replacement for, our training.” That said, Ben stated that realistically it may serve as an introduction to the school and hopefully entice students to attend the other course options.

The Holley EFI training courses are three tiered, starting with a one day course that serves as an introduction to Holley EFI. The instructors walk you through the system features, wiring, software loading/navigation, data logging, closed loop and learn, timing tables, idle parameters, pin mapping, tuning principles, and much more. The second tier is a two-day course that builds off this foundation to include advanced engine parameters, custom ignition configurations, cam/crank sensor phasing, programmable timing retards, advanced idle tuning and troubleshooting, load scale, Speed Density vs. VE and alpha-N as well as combo strategies, GM/Ford transmission control, and sensor scaling to name nine or so. Things really get interesting in the third tier where forced induction and water/methanol injection are covered in another two-day stint. If you are familiar with Holley EFI already, you are allowed to skip to Tier Two before advancing to Tier Three.

“Holley EFI has experienced tremendous growth over the past five years,” Holley’s Robin Lawrence said. “Several years ago, we tapped Tom Kise to lead our on-site training program, and as word spread, classes typically would be booked eight months to a year in advance. A lot of people can’t wait that long, and now, with EFI University, they won’t have to. With Tom Kise’s curriculum and EFI University’s facilities and staff, there’s now a great option for those close to the Southwest. Holley’s classes are specifically designed to teach the Holley system and software – they’re not tuning classes. EFI University offers a full range of tuning classes that are a perfect complement to the knowledge students gain from the Holley EFI course.”

Pricing is available on EFI University’s website, and classes begin April 11th. The instructor-to-student ratio will be kept at 15:1 to ensure optimum grasp of the material, similar to EFIU’s other classes.
