Federal Mogul’s Champion Spark Plugs brand recently announced the details for their Fifth Annual Search For A Champion contest.
This year, the contest offers a record $200,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs to grassroots racers everywhere. The contest opens for entries on November 2, 2015, and will see 40 sponsorships awarded to entrants.
The entry period runs from November 2 though January 3, 2016, with voting for the Finalist round taking place from January 6 through February 3, 2016. Winners of these rounds will be announced February 17, and Grand Prize voting will run from February 24 through March 24, 2016. Grand Prize winners will be announced on March 31, 2016.
15 Advanced racers will be eligible for $5,000 sponsorships, while there will be 25 $1,000 sponsorships awarded to Amateur racers. The winners move on to a $50,000 Grand Prize shootout for the Advanced Division and a $10,000 Grand Prize shootout for Amateur category entrants.
“Champion has been powering winners of virtually all ages and in all types of engine-driven racing for more than a century. We’re reinforcing this unique multi-generational connection by expanding sponsorship opportunities across every age group,” said Jessica Wynn, global director, digital marketing and strategy, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “There’s no age limit to become a member of #TeamChampion, and we’re excited to invite beginning racers to share with us their passion for competition.”
“It has been an absolute honor representing Champion Spark Plugs and Federal-Mogul Motorparts this season,” added Carly Jo Ellingson, 2015 “Search for A Champion” Grand Prize winner.
“I am so thankful for the opportunity they have given me as a driver. ‘Search for a Champion’ changed my life, and it is a privilege having the support of so many crew members, racers, car fanatics and champions.”
The contest has major changes for this year; the aforementioned tiered entry levels, more cash and prizes available for winners, and an expanded age bracket.
