We stopped to talk with Speedway Motors‘ Race Product Manager Greg Nicol, about the 410 engine build for the raffle car to benefit the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

According to Nicol, the engine build, and the entire sprint car project was important to the Speedway Motors’ team for company pride. “Bill Smith, the founder of Speedway, was on the original board of directors to launch the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame,” said Nicol.

“Bob Baker from the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame called wondering if Eagle Motorsports would be willing to do a chassis for the 13th annual giveaway,” he added. “Bob and I talked a little bit and I talked to the Smiths. After these discussions, we decided that it would be a good project. We also decided we would build an engine because we have our engine shop now. So, basically everything for this car you’ll be able to get from the Speedway Motors catalog. We’ve got parts starting to show up from all of our great vendors.”

Nicol pointed out the 305 RaceSaver engines had been a staple for the Speedway Motors’ engine team for a long time. “We ARE 305,” he said with conviction. It was a natural step to start providing a full-sized 410 Sprint Car engine. Speedway Motors offers all the individual parts in their racing catalog, which made it an easy transition in the 410s.
